Format: Two-part virtual team training

Focus: Email marketing strategy and generative AI enablement


Challenge

The manager of a four-person marketing team reached out for support in developing a smarter, more strategic approach to email marketing. While the team understood basic execution, they wanted to elevate their planning, improve content effectiveness, and explore ways to incorporate emerging tools—like generative AI—into their workflow.


My Approach

As someone with a background in education and a career in content marketing strategy, I was excited to bridge both skill sets for this engagement. I customized a two-part training that was as actionable as it was strategic.

Part 1: Strategic Email Marketing Foundations

I began by conducting a quick training needs assessment with the client to tailor the session around their goals and pain points. Then I:

  • Researched and developed a customized presentation

  • Designed an interactive, 1-hour virtual training session

  • Facilitated group discussion, live brainstorming, and Q&A

Topics covered included:

  • Aligning email strategy with broader business goals

  • Understanding the customer journey and key decision points

  • Conducting a content audit to identify gaps and opportunities

  • Repurposing existing content to save time and increase ROI

  • Email marketing best practices (subject lines, CTAs, segmentation, etc.)

  • Suggested action items and next steps tailored to their pipeline

The session was so well received, the client invited me back for a second session.


Part 2: Using Generative AI to Optimize Email Content

For the follow-up, we pivoted into emerging tech. I created and led a hands-on session to help the team begin using tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity.ai more confidently and strategically.

Topics included:

  • How to craft effective AI prompts tailored to personas and industry use cases

  • A “creative brief” framework for briefing AI tools effectively

  • Real-world use cases for generative AI in email content development

  • Best practices for maintaining brand voice and compliance

  • When and why to use personas in Perplexity.ai

  • Practical ways to build AI literacy and upskill over time

I also conducted live prompt demos to showcase the iterative process, with audience participation built in.


Deliverables

After each session, I delivered:

  • A polished, on-brand presentation deck

  • A written session recap with key takeaways and next steps

  • Recommended tools and resources for continued learning

  • Optional follow-up support
